Este 7 de octubre de 2025 se cumplen dos años de genocidio y limpieza étnica contra el pueblo palestino en Gaza y en Cisjordania, perpetrados por el régimen israelí. Hace un año marcamos el primer aniversario de esta ofensiva con rabia e incredulidad de que hubiera durado tanto. Ahora, dos años dentro de esta pesadilla para los palestinos en Gaza y, de hecho, en toda Palestina, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso de hacer todo lo posible para detener esta barbarie.

Casi 2 millones de personas en Gaza han sido desplazadas, la mayoría múltiples veces; al menos 65.000 figuran oficialmente como asesinadas, con el triple de esa cifra heridas. Expertos advierten que las cifras reales son seguramente mucho más altas. Otras han muerto de hambre en una hambruna provocada deliberadamente; otras mueren por falta de suministros médicos que el régimen israelí se niega a permitir que ingresen. Y Gaza posee hoy el mayor número de niñas y niños amputados en el mundo.

Los hospitales han sido tratados como objetivos; cada universidad ha sido deliberadamente arrasada. Más del 90 por ciento de las viviendas en Gaza han sido dañadas o destruidas. Estos son dos años de inacción abominable y reprochable por parte de nuestros gobiernos.

La Corte Internacional de Justicia reconoció en enero de 2024 que esto constituye un genocidio plausible; pero para todas las principales organizaciones internacionales de derechos humanos, para destacados estudiosos del genocidio y del Holocausto, y para Naciones Unidas, no hay duda: esto es, escalofriantemente, un genocidio. La Convención contra el Genocidio impone obligaciones a otros Estados: no solo no ayudar ni asistir a los perpetradores, sino también actuar de manera afirmativa para impedirlo.

Sin embargo, muchos de nuestros gobiernos son cómplices de este genocidio al seguir vendiendo y comprando armas a Israel, al no imponer sanciones e incluso —en algunos casos— al proveer información de vigilancia que asiste las operaciones militares del régimen israelí.

El 1 de octubre fue Yom Kippur, el día más sagrado del calendario judío. Ese día, quienes somos judíos estamos llamados a expiar nuestras propias faltas y las de los miembros de nuestras comunidades. Sin embargo, fue ese mismo día cuando soldados israelíes abordaron por la fuerza las más de 40 embarcaciones de la Flotilla Global Sumud hacia Gaza. Los barcos transportaban ayuda, así como parlamentarios, abogados, médicos y activistas de más de 40 países. El abordaje ocurrió en aguas internacionales —una violación más al derecho internacional entre tantas otras cometidas por Israel.

A pesar de la abrumadora evidencia de la criminalidad del Estado israelí, las organizaciones judías tradicionales en nuestros países siguen en negación y alineadas con la agenda del Estado sionista. Su principal aporte al debate sobre Palestina consiste en intentar tildar de antisemitas a quienes critican a Israel. Esto, a pesar de que muchos de quienes levantan la voz son judíos. Además, esas mismas organizaciones que dicen representar a todos los judíos atacan ferozmente en sus países a palestinos, musulmanes y árabes que se atreven a hablar del genocidio, así como a pueblos indígenas, negros y racializados.

Quienes han apoyado el genocidio israelí en Gaza deben rendir cuentas, aun si pasaran el resto de sus vidas en expiación.

Decimos enfáticamente al mundo que los sionistas no hablan por nosotros. Nos alineamos con las crecientes multitudes de todos los pueblos que se preocupan por la justicia y la dignidad del pueblo palestino, de toda la vida y del planeta. La brutalidad de esta ofensiva contra los palestinos, contra su historia y su vínculo con la tierra, y contra la propia tierra, es antitética a la vida misma. Lamentablemente, es totalmente consistente con el accionar de otros regímenes coloniales de asentamiento y Estados colonizadores. Por eso incontables defensores de la tierra indígena en el mundo han declarado su solidaridad con el pueblo palestino.

Global Jews for Palestine está integrada por organizaciones judías antisionistas en más de 20 países de todos los continentes. Exigimos el fin de la complicidad de nuestros gobiernos con los crímenes que comete el régimen israelí. Demandamos que nuestros gobiernos sancionen a Israel y apliquen un embargo bilateral de armas. Exigimos que Israel rinda cuentas, restitución y reparaciones. Y por sobre todo, exigimos el fin inmediato de este genocidio, el fin de la limpieza étnica y el fin de la impunidad israelí. Nos mantenemos firmes en nuestro llamado a la libertad, la justicia y la liberación del pueblo palestino.

This 7 October 2025 marks two years of genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza and in the West Bank, perpetrated by the Israeli regime. A year ago we noted the first anniversary of this onslaught with both anger and incredulity that it had gone on for so long. Now, two years into this nightmare for the Palestinians in Gaza and indeed, all of Palestine, we are committed to doing whatever we can to help stop this barbarity.

Close to 2 million people in Gaza have been displaced, most of them multiple times; at least 65,000 are officially recorded as having been murdered, with three times that number injured. Experts warn that the true figures are likely much higher. Others have been starved to death in a deliberately produced famine; others are dying for lack of the medical supplies that the Israeli regime refuses to let through. And Gaza now possesses the highest number of children who are amputees.

Hospitals have been treated as targets; every university has been deliberately obliterated. Over 90 percent of all residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed. These are two years of abominable and reprehensible inaction on the part of our governments.

The International Court of Justice effectively accepted that this a plausible genocide in January 2024; but for all the principal international human rights organisations, for leading genocide and Holocaust scholars and for the United Nations, there is no doubt — this is, chillingly, a genocide. The Genocide Convention creates obligations on other nations — certainly not to aid and assist the perpetrators of genocide, but also an affirmative obligation to act to prevent it.

Yet many of our governments are indeed complicit in this genocide by continuing to sell to and purchase arms from Israel, by failing to impose sanctions, and even (in some cases) by supplying surveillance information, which assists the Israeli regime’s military operations.

1 October was Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. On that day we who are Jewish are called on to atone for our own wrongdoing and that of any members of our communities. Yet it was on this day that Israeli soldiers forcibly boarded the 40-plus boats of the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza. The boats were carrying aid as well as parliamentarians, lawyers, doctors, and activists from more than 40 countries. The seizure was carried out in international waters — yet another violation of international law to add to so many perpetrated by Israel.

Despite the crushing evidence of the Israeli state’s criminality, legacy Jewish establishment organisations in all our countries remain in denial and lockstep with the Zionist state’s agenda. Their principal contribution to the swirling discussion about Palestine is to try to brand those criticising Israel as antisemitic. This despite the fact that many are Jewish. In addition, these very organisations that claim to represent all Jews are fiercely attacking Palestinian, Muslim, and Arab peoples in their respective countries if they dare speak up about the genocide, as well as Indigenous, Black, and Brown peoples.

Those who have supported Israel’s Gaza genocide must be held accountable even if they atone for the rest of their lives.

We emphatically say to the world that Zionists do not speak for us. We align ourselves with the growing numbers of all peoples who care about justice and dignity for Palestinians, for all life and for the planet. The brutality of this onslaught on Palestinians, on their history and connection to the land, and on the land, is antithetical to life itself. Sadly, this is entirely consistent with the behaviour of other settler-colonial regimes and colonizing states. This is why countless Indigenous land defenders around the world have declared their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Global Jews for Palestine is made up of Jewish anti-Zionist organisations in more than 20 countries from every continent. We call for an end to the complicity of our governments with the crimes that the Israeli regime is committing. We demand that our governments sanction Israel and call for a two-way arms embargo on Israel. We call for Israel to be held accountable, for restitution and reparations. Above all, we demand an immediate end to this genocide, an end to the ethnic cleansing, and an end to Israeli impunity. We are steadfast in our call for freedom and justice and liberation for the Palestinian people.
